Speciality Diving Courses
Boat Diver
This specialty is taken in one day from one of our boats involving two dives. It is a great way to get familiar with the practice of boat diving and also where areas of a boat are located
Deep Diver Speciality
This specialty is designed to teach you how do dive safely up to 40 metres. It covers the effects of narcosis, decompression sickness, air consumption and equipment requirements for diving in deeper water. Taken over two days it consists of four dives where we’ll explore the deeper sections of the Canyon and the Blue Hole showing you the different coral and animal life at these depths.
Deep Propulsion Vehicle Speciality
DPVs can be enormous fun, but you need the proper instruction to get the best out of them and avoid hazards. The DPV Pilot Specialty will help you gain the skills, knowledge and techniques and enjoyment of using a DPV. We’ll take you on tours of our reefs and walls; you’ll be amazed at how much you can see on one dive with a DPV. The course is conducted over one day with two dives and includes the rental of one of our Seadoo GTi’s that can reach speeds of up to 4 knots!
PROJECT AWARE SPECIALTY
This one day course covers information about aquatic ecosystem degradation along with conservation measures to protect aquatic resources. The Project AWARE Specialty program is designed to familiarize divers and non divers with the plight of worldwide aquatic ecosystems. It also describes what individuals can do to help protect aquatic resources. The program is a non diving course that only contains classroom presentations.
Coral Reef Speciality
The AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course teaches divers, snorkellers and non-divers about the vital role coral reefs play in the marine environment and how these ecosystems are currently threatened. The course familiarizes participants with the current state of the world's coral reefs and explains how individuals can help protect the living reef from further decline. The program is a non-diving course that only contains classroom presentations. It may conduct it as a stand-alone program; however, it's recommended that you offer it in conjunction with other PADI programs.
Drift Diver Specialty
This course is designed to be an introduction to drift diving and to help the student diver develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for drift diving.
The Drift Diver course includes:-
• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of drift diving.
• Special equipment -- floats, lines, reels.
• Proper procedures for buoyancy-control, navigation and communication. Site selection and overview of aquatic currents – causes and effects.
• Techniques for staying close to a buddy or together as a group.
Night Diver Speciality
This course is designed to be an introduction to night diving and to help the student diver develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary to safely participate in night-diving activities.
Multilevel Specialty
This course is designed to be an introduction to multilevel diving and to help the student diver develop the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques.
The Multilevel Diver course includes the following:-
• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of multilevel diving.
• Definition and advantages of multilevel diving.
• Methods of calculating multilevel dives (The Wheel and/or dive computers).
• Review of decompression sickness theory.
• Review of emergency decompression procedures.
• Review of PADI’s S.A.F.E. Diver campaign.
• Procedures for flying after diving.
• Guidelines, rules and procedures for multilevel diving with the Wheel and/or diving computers.
• Care and maintenance of dive computers.
Naturalist Diver Specialty
This course is an introduction to aquatic life including an overview of responsible human interactions with aquatic life.
The following is included in the course:-
• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of diving in different aquatic environments.
• A basic overview of major aquatic life groupings (kingdoms and phyla).
• Factual information that dispels myths of potentially dangerous aquatic life.
• An overview of basic aquatic life interactions and associations.
• Responsible human interactions with aquatic life.
• Diving technique used to help preserve bottom dwelling aquatic life and minimize aquatic life disturbance.
Prerequisites for the course are:-
Peak Performance Buoyancy Speciality
Good buoyancy is the key to good air consumption and comfort in the water; this makes peak performance buoyancy one of the most useful specialties around. It’s also a great course to combine with the photography specialty. We’ll teach proper weighting, weight position and distribution, streamlining and how to fine tune buoyancy underwater. Using an underwater maze set up with hoops and obstacles to swim through at different depths we’ll practice new buoyancy techniques. The course is two dives over one day and includes full equipment. The purpose of the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course is to polish a diver’s buoyancy control beyond the Open Water Diver level.
Search and Recovery Speciality
This course is designed to be an introduction to search and recovery diving and to help the student diver develop the necessary skills and knowledge for safe search and recovery diving.
The Search and Recovery Diver course includes the following:-
• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of search and recovery diving
• Limited-visibility diving and underwater navigation techniques
• Proper techniques and safety considerations for object location, including the use of various search patterns, lines and reels
• Proper techniques and safety considerations for recovery of objects using various lifting devices
