PADI members News – A Job Well Done
‘May I pass on my compliments to the Poseidon centre, Dahab, Egypt, who were excellent in all respects, and with whom I was very much impressed. I’d recommend them highly to anyone and cannot praise them enough for their first class instruction, thoroughness and attention to detail and safety’

A very well set-up centre for all levels of diving, but particularly well set-up for technical and re-breather diving. Everything you can imagine from Inspo cylinders to scrubber to HP O2 to side slings all readily available.
Very nice reef diving. The arch at the Blue Hole (57m-95 m) and the Canyon 14m-50m with another cave at 75m are a must. All dives are from the beach, but don't let that put you off.
Divernet - Ships of the desert
I had expected a camel-diving safari to be a bit of a gimmick, being led along by a rope for a 10-minute camel ride to the dive site. In fact, it turns into quite an experience.
Two and a half hours after leaving Dahab, the path spreads out onto a wide, flat headland. We have arrived at Ras Abu Galum. There is a small Bedouin village, complete with hut/tent homes, goats, tethered camels and Toyota pickups. You can get here by dirt road through the mountains, but the journey from Dahab would have taken most of the day. A coral-lined gully leads out to a sloping reef of hard corals, becoming steeper and almost a wall at 20m. I am ahead of the other divers and stop by a large erg to photograph an octopus. It is remarkably co-operative, just sitting there outside a crack in the coral, not even bothering to shift from its spiky brown camouflage.
John Liddiard was diving with Poseidon Divers in Dahab, Egypt, www.poseidondivers.com.

Dahab was once an isolated coastal village, but now there are "more backpackers than Bedouin", and the town has become something of an alternative resort, the "Ko Samui" of the Middle East. Super cheap accommodation positioned right by the beach, inexpensive food and drink and a relaxed atmosphere combine with the natural wonders of the Red Sea (swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving) to make it a heady enticement for the young and young at heart.
Poseidon Divers , Certainly the best and most professional dive center in Dahab if you plan to embrace a professional career, get into technical diving or simply do fun dive or courses in a safe and professional way. It is the only PADI Career Development Centre in town as well as a TDI Instructor facility (the only one in Egypt), you will get no shortage of divers if you do your PADI DiveMaster or Instructor course here which is a definite plus for the quality of your course.
Divernet – Funky Town
As Sharm and Hurghada more and more attract the general tourist market, Dahab remains a diver's town, offering enjoyable reef experiences as well as deeper challenges for those qualified to dive on mixed gas. And there are few places better for chilling out between dives, says Louise Trewavas
Dahab must be one of the most relaxed places on Earth. Nobody here is in a rush. There is no boat to catch, no tide to miss, and wherever you turn there are shore side cafés ready to serve you up a cold drink and a plate of hummus and chips.
The scruffy and eclectic little town is just an hour's minibus drive up the desert road, heading north from Sharm el Sheikh. But at heart it couldn't be further from the programmed entertainments, hotdog stands and designer boutiques that dominate Na'ama Bay.
We are lucky enough to be diving on mixed gas, available at Poseidon Divers - Dahab's technical-diving Mecca - so we can safely follow the canyon down to where it spits us out onto the reef. The rock down here has a volcanic appearance, and is pitted with large gullies. The vast stillness of the depths is a striking contrast to the enclosed tunnel behind, so we pause to enjoy it.

The following quote from one of Baobab’s customers encapsulates the quality and atmosphere of this dive centre: "We have been hugely impressed by Poseidon Divers. The totally professional attitude of everyone involved was balanced perfectly by the relaxed and friendly atmosphere both around the HQ and on the dive trips."
Diver magazine – Monty Hall
“Our thanks to Ed Poore and everyone at Poseidon Divers. Between the gales of laughter about my kit configuration, Ed and his team went out of their way to ensure that we accessed the best sites and had the best support. It’s great set-up at Poseidon – surely the best technical centre in this region and possibly in Egypt. Boy, do they know the dives in this stretch of coastline!”
