The Meridien Team
The company is owned by Ed Poore and Mats Fischer. Ed has been diving for 15 years and is a PADI Course Director and one of only a handful of Technical diving Instructor Trainers in the Middle East. He spends most of his time concentrating on teaching Poseidon’s Instructor Programs. Ed also has a business background having spent 7 years managing projects for the BBC. Mats has been diving for 20 years and is almost a native Egyptian – his diving has been commercial as well as recreational. With them is a team that is not only very experienced but great fun to dive, work and socialize with.
Ed Poore
Ed is co-owner of Poseidon, a veteran technical diver and one of the most qualified divers around. Ed has been a technical Instructor with IANTD since 1995 and is an Advanced Trimix Instructor Trainer for Technical Diving International (TDI) and DSAT, as well as being a PADI Course Director at the highest Platinum level - he is also an RYA Powerboat Instructor just for the variety and is looking to develop some sailing skills in his old age!
He has worked as deep support diver for a number of high profile projects and has huge experience in leading dive expeditions including ‘Great Ocean Adventures’ for Channel Five Television and Discovery with Monty Halls. He also works as a Consultant conducting dive operation safety health checks and also logistics planning for diving expeditions, after having spent many years as an Army Logistics Officer. He has also spoken at the London Dive Show Technical Conference regarding Risk Management in Technical Diving.
Mats Fischer
Mats is a co-owner of Poseidon Divers and has been in Egypt for 15 years working for many dive organisations in Sharm El Sheikh, Taba and various livaboards in the red sea, managing 3 of them. Mats used to run an underwater Search and Recovery (salvage) company in Sweden and speaks several languages including Spanish, Dutch, English, German, Swedish and Arabic. He is also the man who fixes everything from compressors to boats - there is little he cannot take apart and put together even better than before.

I managed to escape from London to the warm waters of the Red Sea where I am now the youngest MSDT in Dahab. I have been diving for 5 years since I was 16! And been a PADI professional since 18yr. I enjoy the lifestyle here which is super laid back, like me! I don’t think you will find a more chilled out place to dive and relax. See you underwater.
Miriam
As long as I can remember I loved the sea but sadly enough we have no sea in Austria, so I had to travel. Years ago one of my trips led me to Dahab and I knew that I wanted to come back. I started diving 12 years ago and dived at many places around the world. My biology studies brought me back to Dahab and the Red Sea. I did my thesis over here in 2005 and studied the behaviour of the Anemone fish at one of the fantastic dive sites of Dahab: the Islands. If you come over I’d love to tell you more about “my Anemone fish”…

Fish are friends not food” and I love to be with friends!
2 years ago I left Switzerland to come to Egypt, first as a dive guide, then as an Instructor. After an operation, I’m not allowed to dive for a while, but with my experience, my positive attitude and language skills, I hope to be a good counter girl!
Ian
I could talk about how I fell in love with Dahab, or about how wonderful and amazing diving here is, but everyone else has already said those things. I like the relaxed atmosphere that everyone shares at Poseidon and Dahab in general. I’ll take the next step in professional diving at Poseidon so in the near future I’ll hopefully work at Poseidon as a PADI Instructor. I’m 21, speak Dutch, English and a little bit of German, so I hope I have a bright future at Poseidon and PADI!
Aymann, Said, Mustapha, Goma
These are the most important people in the centre. Aymann and Mustapha are both very competent Skippers and drive our boats, whilst Said makes sure the centre is spotless at all times and that everything can be found where expected ! Goma is our driver and when he isnt shuttling between hotels or dive centres, he is driving people to dive sites - another person to get to know well !!
