The Meridien Team
The company is owned by Ed Poore and Mats Fischer. Ed has been diving since 1993 and is a PADI Course Director and one of only a handful of Technical diving Instructor Trainers in the Middle East. He spends most of his time concentrating on teaching Poseidon’s Instructor Programs. Ed also has a business background having spent 7 years managing projects for the BBC. Mats has been diving for 20 years and is almost a native Egyptian – his diving has been commercial as well as recreational. With them is a team that is not only very experienced but great fun to dive, work and socialize with.
Mats Fischer
Mats is a co-owner of Poseidon Divers and has been in Egypt for 15 years working for many dive organisations in Sharm El Sheikh, Taba and various livaboards in the red sea, managing 3 of them. Mats used to run an underwater Search and Recovery (salvage) company in Sweden and speaks several languages including Spanish, Dutch, English, German, Swedish and Arabic. He is also the man who fixes everything from compressors to boats - there is little he cannot take apart and put together even better than before.
Toby
Hi, I’m Toby and I manage the Meridien Dive Centre. I’ve lived in Egypt for 8 years teaching and guided recreational & Technical diving, before this I used to work in banking, but the loved of the sun & the blue sea out weighted the rain & the money of London. I’m in Dahab after years in Sharm, and finding it more chilled and fun by miles.
Jana
Hi, I am the first person who will say hello and welcome you at Le Meridien Poseidon Divers Centre. I work with Toby the manager of the centre behind the counter, but occasionally he lets me out to come and talk to people and check all is well !
I have worked as a sailing instructor and Chalet Host supervisor for over 3 years but got very tired which is why I chose Poseidon Divers to get a totally different experience. I started diving in 2004 in Dahab and now am working my way up to Dive Master along side the office job.
So if you need to organize your diving days, trips, courses or just have a chat come to see me.
Brooke
I’ve always had an affinity with the ocean; it’s a huge part of my Australian heritage after all! As a child I was fascinated by dolphins & great white sharks…. It was this preoccupation & my sense of adventure that led me to scuba diving. In 2004 I completed my open water course in Perth, Australia and have not looked back since. It felt like a homecoming and I was completely absorbed by the immense beauty & serenity of the aquatic realm. In 2005 I carried on to become a PADI Divemaster - Diving was no longer a hobby; it was a way of life! I’ve entered caverns with overheads like an amphitheatre in the Andaman Sea, explored wrecks in the Mediterranean, weaved my way around the kelp forests of Poor Knights in New Zealand…but it was here in Dahab I found paradise! I arrived in early Oct 08 and was immediately adopted by the Poseidon family. I’ve since completed my Instructor Course under the direction Ed & Matt, 2 of the best in the business.
Vlad
Hi, I am Vlad - for over 6 years I taught IT specialty in ex USSR countries, then I tried diving and I knew from the first moment, I will be a professional diver. Now for over 1 year I have worked as a diving instructor in Dahab where I live with my family. I think that was the best change in my life I ever made. For Poseidon Divers I take care of customers form Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic and Slovak, and at work I really enjoy showing people the underwater world to help them love it the same as I do.
Mamdoh
I am Mamdoh originally from Ismailya, the bride of the Suez Canal , in the North of Egypt. I used to regularly swim from Africa to Asia (and back...), and always loved spending my holidays in Dahab since I am little boy. After university, I decided to come back to Dahab for real to become a dive-master, enjoy every day the beauty of the Red Sea , and make the fishes my friends. I like to find the small details in the sea, observe the behavior of the fishes & see how they interact in their environment. I enjoy very much sharing my passion for the sea with my divers, so that each dive is an unforgettable experience for my guests. Come & join me, I will make sure you enjoy every minute at Poseidon Divers!
John
Hi my name is John and I have been working in the dive industry since 2006 when I decided to turn my passion for diving into a career. I started working as a PADI pro in the Greek Islands and later travelled to Thailand to work and became an instructor out there which has now led me to Dahab. I came for a short holiday to Dahab in May 2008 and fell in love with the laid back and friendly atmosphere of the place and vowed to come back. So here I am working with a great team at Poseidon Divers at Le Meridien Hotel and I am having a superb time.
Richard
I'm Richard and am from Wales - I started diving there in 2001, and moved up to Instructor and have been teaching diving since 2006. My diving is a mix of cold, murky UK waters along with the warmer more colourful destinations. I'm a PADI instructor also the BSAC. I enjoy all types of diving especially the coral reefs we have out here which I will be happy to show you When not diving i enjoy long distance running although wherever i am not working i try to dive at least once or twice a week whatever the weather!
Chris (Baker)
I managed to escape from Manchester to the warm waters of the Red Sea where I am now a Diving Instructor. I came here to become a Divemaster and fell under the spell of the lifestyle and the place and went up past that and now teach people to enjoy the underwater world. I'll be happy to show you around.
Ali, Mustapha, Adam
