Technical Diving

Dahab seems as if it has been designed for technical diving. The Gulf of Aqaba reaches its maximum depth of nearly two kilometres. That means just metres from shore many dive sites reach 60+ metres and at the Blue Hole nearly 800 metres! Add to that the earthquake activity of millennia; rich coral even at depth and warm clear water and you’ve got a match made in Tec diver’s heaven. But to really explore what Dahab has to offer at depth you need the back-up, support and knowledge of a truly dedicated technical facility and Poseidon Divers are second to none in Sinai.

A top-notch tech facility
Over the years we’ve built up a top-notch tech facility, which doesn’t just mean lots of equipment, but the staff that really understand the specialised requirements of technical divers, and have experience not just in warm waters but also in tough conditions. We’re the only dive centre in Egypt with five full-time technical diving instructors and Instructor Trainers which means we can schedule courses from Nitrox up to advanced Trimix instructor at any time, year round. We have fully equipped classroom facilities including laptops with several types of decompression software, a vast range of equipment and accessories, and a 50m deep training area right outside our front door. Technical divers need space, and we have plenty of it, with benches for kitting up, tables for rebreather, plenty of analysers and staff always around to help out with heavy equipment.

Experience...
One of our main advantages is that we have experience from outside of Egypt’s waters as well, which means when you are being taught, it isn’t just based upon warm clear waters. It is experience of many types of diving in many different conditions.

Surface support...
Surface support is provided for every technical dive that takes place with Poseidon Technical, and the staff are trained in rescue procedures and all are first aid CPR and Oxygen administration certified

With Twin sets spanning sizes from 10L through to 20L in both aluminium and steel we have the diversity to be able to meet any requirements. We also have dedicated Oxygen clean stage cylinders ranging from 10L through to 15L should you require them. They all come with carry handles, stage clips and hose retainers, meaning you do not need to travel with a toolbox or with any ancillary parts.

Rebreather Diving
For Rebreather divers we have a number of both Diluent and Oxygen 3L cylinders. Including two complete Buddy Inspiration Rebreathers should you decide to travel light. We also have a large stock of sofnolime - so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own.

The kit...
Poseidon Technical use Apeks ATX200 and ATX100 regulators for back gas, and ATX50 and ATX40 for stage cylinder use and are Oxygen clean where necessary. Our stage cylinders come complete with short hose pressure gauges and coloured second stage purge valves to ensure easy identification. Our back gas regulators are equipped with a 1.5m long hose on the primary regulator.

We also use the renowned Custom Divers wing and back plate system should you need to rent any equipment. We have the double bladder wing to ensure that redundancy is maintained as this is a common theme with all of our technical diving practises. Back plates are aluminium and incorporate a harness with quick release clip to facilitate easy kitting up and removal of equipment.

We also can provide you with reels, DSMB’s and a yellow DSMB for emergency use along with an array of torches, slates, computers and spare masks for your use should you need them. Here at Poseidon Technical we can even offer the use of our dive planning software – including Z Planner, Gap, Abyss and Deco Planner.

Our blending facilities include fast continuous flow for mixes up to 40% and a British made blending panel for Trimix and deco gases, with our Haskel booster we can take oxygen up to 200 bar. We have five qualified blenders on full time staff, several oxygen analysers and two helium analysers – so you won’t have to wait in a queue to analyse your gas.

You are also only charged for gases that you request and use. We will carry out top offs, and charge for the litres filled, however we will not charge you for a base mix each time we make a refill. Our price per litre is also one of the lowest in the Red Sea – so you definitely are getting a good deal.

Technical Hosting
If you are part of a dive school or dive club that runs technical training or trips, we here at Poseidon Technical are happy to offer the use of our excellent facilities in the form of air conditioned classrooms and professional teaching materials.

Technical Experiences
Poseidon Technical is able to offer technical experience dives on both open circuit twin set equipment as well as fully closed circuit rebreathers. Our technical team will take time to show you around the equipment and ensure that you posses enough knowledge to make a safe and fun dive accompanied by one of our staff members.
