Non-Diving Activities

Dahab still has plenty to offer for the non diver, especially if you want a few days exploring the landscape. South Sinai’s landscape is mainly mountainous arid desert, sheer cliffs of pink granite with veins of harder basalt forming high ridges. Lack of vegetation in the mountains means ancient flash floods have carved out huge wadis (dry river valleys) and twisting canyons with sand covered floors, the landscape is like nothing on Earth and well worth exploring either by jeep, horseback or camel. Snorkelling
Snorkelling for those that prefer to keep to the surface is a fantastic way to spend some time. The underwater world can be seen just below you, and especially at the Meridien we rent snorkelling equipment and offer guided snorkelling from the beach. What could be easier and more enjoyable?

Mount Sinai
It takes about 3 hours to climb the 2500m peak following the Path of Moses, a stairway of nearly 4,000 steps. Nearing the summit, you’ll encounter the natural amphitheatre where the 70 wise men waited while God spoke with Moses, then finally a small chapel and mosque at the top. Climbing requires you to be in reasonable shape and bring good walking shoes and plenty of water; it can also get very cold at the summit in winter so bring warm clothing.

St Catherine’s Monastery
At the foot of Mount Sinai, Saint Catherine's Monastery is an important place of pilgrimage for Judaism, Christianity and Islam and one of the best known monasteries in the world. Reputedly built around the site of the burning bush, within its formidable walls rests priceless treasures - mosaics, paintings ornaments and a library of ancient manuscripts and icons second only to the Vatican.

Desert Safaris
Take a trip into the desert; from just a couple of hours to a few days and experience the peace and tranquillity of the wadis and canyons in the mountains. The Bedouin guides will take you to the hidden oases and rock formations.

Horse Riding
Enjoy the beauty of the Sinai on horseback. Whether you are an experienced rider or new to this pastime, Horse riding is a great way to unwind after a days diving. Horse riding is usually done through the desert and Wadi’s that the Sinai is renound for. As you can imagine the scenery is spectacular, ranging from narrow Wadi’s with high cliffs either side to vast open desert. We can arrange excursions from beginner to advanced, early morning rides or dusk rides, as well as full days out.

Desert Dinner
You take a short taxi journey to the desert where we make camp. Arriving in time for the spectacular sunset and to see the panoramic views across Dahab, with the magnificent mountains of Saudi Arabia in the distance. Whilst you are taking in the view the Bedouin cook is busy cooking your dinner over an open fire. When the stars come out in abundance, you can lie back & marvel at the view the night sky has to offer.

Quad Biking
Quad Biking is a very popular and exciting activity, biking through the stunning desert around Dahab. Quad Bike tours take place early morning or around Dusk, the perfect times to keep you out of the hot midday sun. We can arrange these tours for you – just let us know when would like to go and we will make all the necessary arrangements for you.

Windsurfing
Dahab is a very popular place for windsurfing due to its incredibly reliable year round wind! Lessons are available from beginners to intermediate. Dahab is one of the best windsurfing areas and is especially good for a wide mixture of abilities and year around excellent conditions. Dahab offers the perfect spot for practicing from morning till night. Just let us know when you would like to have a go and we will book the rest for you!
