ABOUT YOGA
Practising yoga relaxes and energises the body and mind, encouraging vitality, flexibility, strength, concentration and mental calm. It is a good way to relieve  muscular tension, and also prevents many stresses, strains, aches and pains. It promotes a firm foundation for health and well-being, regardless of ability.

Classes begin with an explanation of breathing techniques and relaxation, followed by gentle stretching and a warm up before moving onto the yoga asanas or postures. There is a guided relaxation at the end of each class so that participants can learn techniques to help them de-stress and re-energise.

YOGA AT POSEIDON
Poseidon offers Yoga at its centre in Le Meridien Dahab, which is the towns only 5 Star Resort. It doesnt mean you have to be staying at Le Meridien, as we will transfer you to and from the hotel each day to ensure you can take part in the Yoga and diving. Your diving will also be from Le Meridien as our Yoga Instructor is also a Scuba Instructor and she tries to ensure she can take the diving for her Yoga students later in the day from Le Meridien

Your day will start with the Yoga class and about midday you will do your first dive and if you are doing a second this will be around 3pm - a later schedule on the diving to allow adequate time for the Yoga each morning.

If you are staying with us at Le Meridien you have use of all the facilities as a hotel guest, but if you are staying elsewhere you still have full use of bars and restaurants during the day to help with the relaxation.

CAN ANYONE PRACTICE YOGA?
Yoga is non-competitive and is suitable for all types of people and all levels of fitness.  Participants work at their own pace and ability within a mixed class. Classes will be geared towards beginner and intermediate levels with techniques explained for different levels during the class.

The instructor encourages newcomers to try yoga as the benefits of the relaxation and stretching are immediate. All the postures are fully explained and the instructor works with each individual using both demonstration and a hands-on approach.

Yoga is about working with your body to discover your individual ability and is therefore enjoyed by all ages and abilities. Please let the instructor know if you are pregnant (it is not advisable to start to practice yoga in the first three months if you have never tried yoga before), or if you have any back or joint pain, or if you have high blood pressure, as adaptations will be made to suit

TYPE OF YOGA
Anne has been practising yoga for many years and ran yoga classes in Clapham, South London, before coming to Dahab over a year ago to teach both yoga and diving. Anne teaches principally in the Sivananda style incorporating breathing techniques and relaxation, but mixes elements of various styles of Hatha yoga to suit the class.

This is a slow-paced stretching class with some simple breathing exercises and seated meditation. It is a good place to learn basic poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga

YOGA AND DIVING COURSES
Yoga classes can be combined with both diving courses and with guided dives. 

Many of the breathing techniques used in yoga are useful for diving, and the  relaxation techniques used can help divers feel more relaxed and confident in the water. You will also be generally fitter and stronger for diving after taking yoga classes and will stretch out any aching muscles!

CLASS TIMES, LOCATION
10.00 to 11.15 am at the yoga room between the gym and the dive centre
in le Meridien

Classes will take place daily (one day off per week) if there are courses running

All classes need to be pre-booked and pre-paid to ensure your place in this ever popular activity

COSTS WITHOUT DIVING
€50 for 3 classes
€75 for 5 classes
€140 for 10 classes

Private lessons:
Private classes are for 1½  hours and can be arranged to take place outside of regular class hours to suit.
